Anthony "Wayne" Messer

Anthony “Wayne” Messer Sr. 64, of West Jefferson, (formerly of Chillicothe), passed away March 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 17, 1960, to the late Lenna Mercedes (Meade) Messer.
Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter Chelsea, his namesake son Tony, brother Ted Long and his former wife Peggy Loomis. Wayne is survived by his beautiful granddaughter, Sophia Messer (Tony), special aunt and uncle, T.J and Angie Meade, who opened up their loving home to Wayne during his illness; his brother Brad Long and many more loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wayne was a 1977 graduate of Chillicothe High School (Class of 1978). Wayne worked at Wearever and RCA until their closings and retired from Mead Paper.
A graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery, at a date to be determined.
Arrangements were handled by Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home.
