Arthur L. Groves, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born on December 12, 1930, in Columbus, Arthur lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family and pride in his work. He loved fishing and was an avid Ohio State football fan. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, interests that reflected his love of both adventure and time well spent with those he cared about.
Arthur was a longtime member of Hilltop St. John’s Lutheran Church, where his faith was part of the steady foundation of his life. In his working years, he retired as a truck driver from Swift Packing House and Consolidated Frightways; among his proud accomplishments was receiving the 2-Million Safe Driving Award, a distinction that spoke to his skill, responsibility, and commitment over many years on the road.
He was also active in a number of organizations that were important to him. Arthur was a member of Teamsters Local #413, Westgate Masonic Lodge, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. He also served as Registrar of the Shrine, giving his time and attention in service to that community.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Beatrice (Collins) Groves; by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara W. Groves; by his brother James Groves and sister-in-law Mary Jo Groves; by his sister Rosella Ridenhour and brother-in-law Billy Joe Ridenhour; and by his daughter-in-law Cathy, his granddaughter Kathleen, and his grandson Joseph.
He is survived by his sons, Victor Groves and Earl Groves, and his wife, Patricia; his sister Eva Harsh and her husband, Greg; his sister-in-law Cheryl Jones; and by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. May the love of his family, and the many memories they carry of him, bring comfort in the days ahead and keep his spirit close for years to come.
