Carol A. (Zink) Holben, of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully at home on February 18 at 11:06 p.m., surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.
Born on January 30, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, Carol was the daughter of Haldon and Vivian Zink. She grew up in the Canton/Massillon area and graduated from Jackson High School. The values of faith, hard work, and dedication she developed in her early years remained with her throughout her life.
Carol was married to her beloved husband, Louis Holben, with whom she built a life centered on family, faith, and community. Together they raised three children: Jeff Holben (Ann), Lori King (Rob), and Greg Holben (Helen). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Michael Holben, Benjamin Holben, Chris Holben (Shay), Libby Andujar (Alex), Mary Glackin (Scott), Spencer King (Kristin), and Brendan King, and a cherished great-grandmother to Miles, Mila and Connor.
A self-taught dental assistant, Carol demonstrated determination and a lifelong love of learning. She was deeply involved in the West Jefferson community, especially during the years she was raising her children, always supporting school and local activities, and forming lasting friendships.
Carol had a special passion for gardening and earned distinction as a Master Gardener. She was an active member of the Madison County Garden Club, generously sharing her knowledge and love of flowers and nature. She was also very active in her church, living out her faith through service, kindness, and quiet strength.
Carol and Louis also shared a love of travel, especially taking cruises to warm destinations. Those trips brought them joy, relaxation, and special memories together over the years. Carol will be remembered for her warmth, her steady presence, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she nurtured—both in her garden and in her home.
