Carrie L. Bates

Carrie L. Bates, age 72, of West Jefferson, Ohio, passed at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 6, 2025. Born in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Boyd and Mary Lewis, Carrie worked for many years at Kitchen’s Restaurant in West Jefferson before her retirement due to health issues.  Carrie's son Timothy writes: "Mom was a simple woman who never wanted, or asked, for much.  She loved her kids, her grandkids, and the beach!

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Lewis, and her grandson Mason Hall. She is survived by her children: Tim (Sue Brown) Lewis, Amy (Richard George) Bates, Kimberly (Steve) Knapp, and Brenda Bates; her former spouse and friend Raymond Bates; her grandchildren: Ceonna (Dan) Hall, Madison Whitt, Cameron Whitt, Steven Knapp, Kirsten Goodrich, and Morgan Bates; her great-grandchildren: Aubree Hall, Corbin Hall, Jackson Hall, and Lilith Whitt; siblings: Tim Lewis, Frank (Jeanie) Lewis, and Rosemary (Jim Tabor) Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.
