Chip Salyer

Jack Maywood “Chip” Salyer, Jr., age 60, of London, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Chip gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. He was born April 23, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Jack Maywood Salyer, Sr. and Mary Anna (Estep) Salyer. He was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, Class of 1983 where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. He attended Capital University where he played football. Chip worked at Nationwide Insurance for thirty-five years. He most recently worked at Amazon Web Services. Chip was an avid sports fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the San Fransico 49ers. He enjoyed golfing, fantasy football league, and played softball. Chip was the ultimate family man. He was known to many as “Chippy.”

Chip was preceded in death by his parents Mary Anna Estep Salyer and Jack Maywood Salyer, Sr., his sister Brenda Lightfoot, and his brother-in-law Paul Cavinee.

Chip was married to Karen (Braithwaite) Salyer. Along with Karen, Chip is survived by his children: Madison (Tim) Gerholdt, Matthew Truxall, Kaylie Martin, Ryan (Natalie) Martin, and Ty Martin, his grandchildren: Bayleigh, Autumn, and Riley Truxall, and Brayden Polizzi, sister Judy Cavinee, brother-in-law Gary Lightfoot, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family will receive friends from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2026 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 where his Funeral Service will follow the visitation hours and begin at 1:00 p.m. MONDAY with Pastor Ruth Pribe, officiating. Chip will be laid to rest at Hampton Cemetery, West Jefferson, Ohio.
