Florene L. Ooten, lovingly known as Cookie, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Cookie was born on January 29, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, to parents Rachel Clark and James Staley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel Clark and James Staley; her sister, Linda K.; her daughter, Tammy Renfrow; and her granddaughter-in-law, Andrea Hodge.

Cookie survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Ooten; her beloved twin daughters, Kimberly (Andrew) Burkhart and Katie (David) Walker; her grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer Hodge and Lane Walker; and her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Megan, Terry Hodge, Nathan Hodge, Breanna and Bailey McCamey, along with many loving cousins and extended family on the Ooten side.

Cookie was the strongest woman anyone could ever meet, with the biggest heart and a personality that filled every room she entered. Her emotions were never hidden—you could always read exactly how she felt, and she never hesitated to make sure those around her knew where she stood. She was honest, expressive, and full of life.

Her silly sense of humor brought joy to those closest to her, and she was a guiding force for so many. She devoted herself completely to caring for the people she loved, always making sure everyone around her was taken care of and felt deeply loved in return.

She adored her dog, Ottie, cherished family gatherings, and took pride in making the most delicious meals that brought everyone together. She was especially known for her delicious peanut butter fudge. Some of her happiest moments were simple ones—swinging with her grandson and spending time on the beach with her family, soaking in the sun together as long as they possibly could.

Cookie shared 41 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Dennis, who was not only her partner in life but also her best friend and constant companion. Together they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another. Their bond was one of deep friendship and enduring love that will continue to be cherished by all who knew them.

She was a devoted mother and wife who never stopped showing up for her family. She loved lovingly “bossing around” her husband and daughters, always with care and intention behind it.

Cookie touched so many lives, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled. The hearts of all who knew her ache with her passing, but her love, strength, and spirit will continue to live on through her family and everyone she impacted.

Family will receive friends from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 2026 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, Ohio 43162 where her Funeral Service will follow the visitation hours and begin at 1:00p.m. TUESDAY with Rev.
