Daylan Samuel Gibson, Our Strong Warrior, forever 32, received his Heavenly wings on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 2:30pm. He passed away peacefully in his Buckeye room at home, right where he loved to be, and in the dedicated care of his mother. Daylan was, and always will be, a true "momma’s boy." His perfect, precious, and contagious smile had a way of lighting up every room he walked and eventually rolled into.

Daylan was preceded in death by his father, Philip "Buddy" Gibson, who also succumbed to Huntington’s disease at the young age of 41. He leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories to be cherished by his devoted mother and caretaker, Melissa Pennington; his beloved little sister, Makierlynn; his proud grandmother, Kathy Vanover; Daylan was her firstborn grandson… and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifetime buddies. He also leaves behind his best friends who stuck by his side until the end, Christina Fritz and Rick Bronson.

The family extends a very special thanks to John Foncha, who helped his mother take meticulous, loving care of Daylan, treating him like family, alongside the rest of Daylan's wonderful care team (you know who you are).

Throughout even the hardest fights of his journey with Juvenile Huntington’s Disease, Daylan always had a smile and wanted to go, go, go, and kept his happy spirit, facing every challenge with incredible strength and grace. From childhood, Daylan attended Cypress Wesleyan Church on Alton Darby Road with his mom and family. Daylan was baptized alongside his mother, Melissa at Choctaw Lake (Cypress Church) on June 13, 2004, at 11 years old.

Daylan was a proud graduate of Hilliard Bradley High School Class of 2012. He attended Columbus State Community College.

He was incredibly proud of his “job” at ARC Industries. Known as the most faithful unpaid employee they ever had. Daylan deeply loved going to work, the staff, and his entire ARC family, who provided unwavering support to him throughout his ever changing journey.. Special thanks to Scott & Karen for patiently, loving him through the difficulties of communication.

An avid sports fan, Daylan loved cheering on the Buckeyes, Cowboys, Reds & Browns…he always cherished going to the games and gun shows with Brad. They both shared the same passion for sports, guns, and cars …two of a kind!

When he wasn't at a sporting event, you would find him listening to his favorite music, enjoying his favorite sitcoms, including Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. While eating his snacks and ICE CREAM. Daylan was the proud owner of DOUGH BOYZ PIZZA in Galloway and Gahanna, Ohio. Everyone knew him as “THE BOSS” sitting in his red Buckeye recliner, watching TV as he supervised us.

Daylan also had a passion for shooting and collecting guns, and he took great pride in his huge collection of guns, Nike clothes and Jordan shoes.

Above all else, Daylan loved spending time with his family. He was a deeply proud big brother to his little sister Makierlynn, whom he adored and lovingly called "Boo."

The bond that he and his mother, Melissa shared was untouchable, and will be cherished and honored forever …she is known as “Momma bear” and always protected, defended, and was always DAYLAN’s voice.

My sweet, precious boy! You were my first love and my best friend since I held you in my arms when I was 18 years old. Going forward life will be difficult without you, but I look forward to seeing you again, restored, happy, and pain-free no more suffering, my sweet boy In the arms of Jesus who has been preparing you for this journey for months. As you expressed many times that Jesus was speaking to you as you held the picture to your chest.

I know you are my sweet angel who will be watching over your sister and I until we meet again.

We miss you and love you more than words can ever express

We will see you soon, my precious boy.
