Edith Mae Smalley, just 37-days shy of her 100th birthday, passed away on December 9, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1926, in Beckley, West Virginia. She lived in Columbus/Hilliard OH until retiring to Okeechobee, FL with her husband John in 1988, and most recently resided at Vitality Senior Living Frederica on St. Simons Island, Georgia where she made many new friends.
Edith lived a long and richly full life. She had a deep love for horses and trail riding, travel and cruises, board games, card games, and she spent many joyful hours creating beautiful things through her crafts and sewing. Her creativity, warmth, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Smalley, and her son, Gary Eugene Miller.
Edith is survived by her seven children: Jim Miller (Marcia), Share Porri, Sheila Fletcher, Ron Miller (Debbie), Dani Graumlich (Rick), Marci White (Paul), and Cyndi Haydocy (Kevin); as well as 32 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her long life.
Nearly 100 years of a life well lived. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God, grant her eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Her family will gather for visitation and her funeral service on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2025 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162. Visitation will be held from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. and the Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00p.m. WEDNESDAY. Edith will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband John at Hampton Cemetery.
