Gary R. McNeal

Gary Ronald “Porkchop” McNeal, age 65, of West Jefferson, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, May 6 2022.  He was born June 16, 1956 in Columbus Ohio.  Gary was preceded in death by his father Robert McNeal, his mother-in-law Freda Butterfield and his son Tommy Rees. Gary is survived by his mother Constance McNeal, wife Vicki McNeal, and his children: Brandon (Cate) McNeal, Dana McNeal, Will (Shelly) Richardson, Louann VanWagner, Daughter-in-law Brooke Rees, and (not real son) Rob (Jaclyn) Drummond; Grandchildren: Kassi McNeal, Zach Richardson, Kyle Richardson, Aiden VanWagner, Evelyn Creamer, Emelya Rees, Lilly McNeal, Eileigh Rees, Ben McNeal, Nash Rees, Robert Drummond, Braedon Drummond, Clara Drummond, and Dylan Conley; siblings: Janice (Rick) Miller, Greg (Sherri) McNeal, Cindy Phillips; his Aunt Columbine Barker, several nieces and nephews and close friends he considered family. Gary was a graduate of Westland High School, Class of 1975, he worked at Columbus Auto Parts, and then became a police officer with the West Jefferson Police Department where he was a patrol officer and retired as Lead Detective and Lieutenant in 2018 after 28 years of service. Gary also spent 25 years as the West Jefferson High School Football team’s Equipment Manager, he was also a current Special Duty Madison County Sheriff's Deputy. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed camping, bowling, woodworking, and sitting on the porch and waving at everyone. Gary did not know a stranger.  He would always find someone he knew no matter where we went.         

Family will receive friends from 2:00p.m.-8:00p.m. WEDNESDAY at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 and again from 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m. THURSDAY and his Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 12:00p.m. THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2022.  Chaplain Teena Gallagher, officiating.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, West Jefferson
