Jennie Ruth Powell

Jennie Ruth Powell born October 30^th 1943 to Willard and Abby Brame of Minford, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ray E. Powell Jr. and her father and mother. She is survived by her son Duane and his wife Theresa.  Grandchildren, Lauren (Patrick), Conor, Carlie, Logan (Holli). Great-grandchildren Isabelle, Carson and Halle, all from West Jefferson, Ohio. Sisters, Shirley (Elmer) Williams of Newark, Ohio, Carolyn (Jim) Garrett of Minford, Ohio and Cindy Johnson of Hamilton, Ohio. Nieces’, Lisa (Bill) LeMaster, Laura Garrett of Minford, Melissa (Brett) Auer of Houston, Texas and Nephew Michael (Julie) Richard of Denton, Texas.

Ruth was reunited with her savior the Lord Jesus Christ and Raymond on Aug 3, 2022.

Ruth was a working mother and home maker who spent over 20 years with Sears Distribution and ended her career as an administrative assistant with the Ohio Department of Corrections. She was a 4-H advisor of the Run and Ride 4-H Club and sat on the State of Ohio 4-H Advisory Board for many years. Ruth attended the Harvest Chapel Church of West Jefferson for over 40 years, teaching Sunday School and supporting Vacation Bible School. She was an avid baker of pies, cakes and homemade bread but everyone knew her for her chocolate chip cookies.

However, her strongest passion was supporting her family. She attended countless horse shows, basketball and football games, track meets, and school performances. She loved to cheer for her son and later grandchildren. Ruth was easy to recognize at these activities as she never left home without her cowbell.

Although Ruth’s departure brings sadness, her family was blessed for the time they had with her. They are comforted that she has left behind her earthly ailments and been reunited with her Raymond.

The family will be receiving visitors on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home in West Jefferson, Ohio 5:00PM – 8:00PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 11:00AM at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home in West Jefferson, Ohio.  Ruth will be laid to rest at Hampton Cemetery, West Jefferson, Ohio.
