Leeann Mione, 61, of Columbus passed away on September 26, 2024 with family by her side. She is survived by her loving family; father Frank and step-mother Linda Mione, aunts Rosalie De Armas and Irma Carlon-Mione, nieces Michelle Mione and Elizabeth (Nate), great nephews, cousins and dear friends who were like family scattered throughout the country. She held on to her friendships tightly and appreciated the outpouring of love and support, especially in her last weeks.
Leeann was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 1, 1962, and graduated from Fairmont East High School in 1981. She was a free-spirit and an animal lover from a young age. She loved her family cats and dogs, and later in life after her beloved cat, Johnny Cash, passed away she devoted time to fostering cats through NAWS A No Kill Animal Shelter in Mokena, IL.
Leeann had a passion for horses and received her Bachelor of Science in Equine Science from Colorado State University in 1997. She soon after began her career handling advertising and editorials for Saddle Horse Report, which continued for 25+ years. Leeann was a phenomenal writer and photographer. Her career took her to many events across the country, at which she met many, many friends that she treasured.
Leeann loved the beach, spending her earlier years in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with family during summer vacations. She loved spending time by the ocean, and attending the all-you-can-eat buffets which were always a spectacle with her Dad and Brother. In recent years, Leeann fell in love with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and it became her go-to vacation destination once or twice a year with dear friends. She enjoyed the food, beautiful beach and the incredibly friendly locals that became friends.
Leeann was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria (Bayman) Mione, her brother Mitch and sister-in-law Cherryl (Mullady) Mione, her uncles Benedict Mione and Raul De Armas, her grandparents Dale and Dorothy Bayman and Paul and Loretta Mione.
Leeann’s family would like to thank the incredible doctors, nurses and staff at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus as well as the kind staff of Gentiva Hospice and Arbors West in West Jefferson.
Cremation will take place by Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home. Per Leeann’s wishes her ashes will be scattered in Brooklyn, NY, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Europe. No formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
