Mary Teresa Thomas, 65 of West Jefferson, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at home after a fierce battle with cancer. Mary was born June 10, 1956, to Tony and Mary Alice Baronda. She enjoyed her time gardening, particularly pulling weeds after a good soft rain, fishing and camping on the banks of the Little Darby, playing The Legend of Zelda with her son Charlie and all his friends, and she loved celebrating Halloween year-round. She was a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews and a loyal caring friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George Thomas, her in-laws Wilda and Lester Thomas, her brother Mike, her special sister-in-law Sally, and her dear friends Cathy Miller, Phil Underwood, and Jeff Baugess, all of whom she helped to care for in their time of need. She is survived by her son G.L.A. Charles Thomas III who was the center of her life, her siblings Linda (Keith) Collins, Leon (Marcia) Baronda, Paul (Marie) Baronda, John (Sharon) Baronda, and Tim Baronda, a large extended family of nieces and nephews, her close friend Ariel Taylor and her 4 children whom Mary considered to be her grandchildren, and her lifelong friend Marlene Taylor. The family will host a Celebration of Life in the near future.
