Oliver Wendell Jones, Jr.

Oliver Wendell Jones, Jr., age 74, of South Vienna, Ohio, formerly of West Jefferson, met his Savior while at home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 28, 2025. Born in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Flora and Oliver Wendell Jones, Sr., he was a graduate of Columbus South High School, Class of 1969. Oliver was a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard, serving from 1969 to 1973. He retired after a career in Sales. Oliver never met a stranger. He would talk to everyone, and he would always offer to help others in their time of need. He especially loved playing Santa Claus at the West Jefferson PTO party. Oliver loved his family and courageously fought the good fight against sarcoma. He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents, Oliver was preceded in death by his sister Janice Mitchell, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Lois Earles, sister-in-law Carolyn Earles, brother-in-law Charles Ferguson, and his grand dogs Wendell and Princess.

Oliver is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 52 years, Melissa Jones, his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Tiffany Jones, his granddaughters Audrey and Lily Jones, sister Wendy (Don) Gorman, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Merle Earles, Andy (Barb) Earles, Marie Ferguson, Elyta (Kelley) Manns, Mary Purdie, Electa (David) Lyons, Tami Earles, Joy (Mark) Tyo, many nieces and nephews including his special nephew Scott Ferguson, and his many friends.

Family will welcome friends from 2:00p.m.-5:00p.m. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2025 at the RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, OH 43162 (614)-879-9222, where his Funeral Service will follow the visitation hours and begin at 5:00p.m. TUESDAY with Pastor Gordon Ell, officiating.
