Richard “Pete” Lee Brofford

Richard “Pete” Brofford, age 90, passed peacefully into the Lord’s care on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Pete was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 28, 1935 to the late Clayton and Hazel (Byas) Brofford.

He married Patricia (Storts) Brofford, the love of his life, on August 28, 1953, and they shared 72 years together. They continue to be a shining example of love to so many who have witnessed them face the joys and sorrows of life together, never wavering in their love for one another. Together they raised five children and passed along their love to nine grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.

When not working as a truck driver for Yellow Freight, Pete would selflessly lend his skills and time to help family and friends in any way he could. He was a brilliant storyteller who could draw you in with his words, his humor, and his heart. His stories will live forever in each person who lived them and heard them.

In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his children Joel Brofford Sr. and Tina Jean Rogers; grandchildMatthew Brofford; siblings Clayton “June” Brofford II, Virgil “Bub” Brofford, Shirley Brofford, Robert “Bob” Brofford; half-sibling Annalee Mash; and many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.

Pete is survived by his loving wife Pat (Storts) Brofford; children Mark Brofford, Shelby Brofford and Aerika (Dale) Wilkerson; grandchildren Joel (Amanda) Brofford Jr, Krista Brofford, Joshua Brofford, Becky Brofford, Kelly Rogers, Williams Rogers, Elisha (Ricardo) Riddle, and Janie Riddle; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; siblings Delores Stuller, Rachel Sykes, Raymond (Nora) Brofford; half-siblings Steve Brofford and Tom Brofford; countless nieces and nephews and beloved friends.
