Richard John "Rick" Daley, 76, of West Jefferson, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Rick was born in February 1950 in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Mary (Balkun) Daley, and was raised alongside his siblings, Diane and James. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a firefighter in Vietnam and carried that calling home, going on to a career of more than 30 years as a federal firefighter at Rickenbacker Air Force Base and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was a proud member of the International Association of Fire Fighters.
Rick was happiest surrounded by family, whether gathered around the table at a favorite restaurant or sharing the homemade baked goods everyone looked forward to. He loved to travel and was a proud fixture in the stands at his granddaughter Corinne's games. He was also a loyal fan of the Cleveland Guardians and Ohio State Buckeyes football.
Rick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Betz) Daley; his son Matthew Daley; and his son Bryan (Allison) Daley and granddaughter, Corinne. He was preceded in death by his brother, James "Jimmy" Daley.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Jefferson Township Fire Department and Chief Dan Gatley. They are also deeply thankful to the nurses, doctors, and staff of the emergency department, intensive care unit, and palliative and hospice care units at Doctors Hospital for the compassion and care they gave Rick and his family.
