Robert "Bob" F. Schafer

Robert F. Schafer, age 89, a long-time resident of West Jefferson, Ohio, died Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Inn at Library Way, in Hilliard, Ohio. Born October 14, 1936 in New York City to the late Fred and Bertha Schafer, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sidney Schafer, and his son David. Bob is survived by his daughters Laura (Paul) Martin and Robyn (Scott) Curry, his grandchildren: Mallory, Porsche, Meredith, Rylie, and Addison; his great-grandchildren: Grace, Nora, Marlie, Mason, Kayne; his niece Heather (John) Schwarz; and many friends.

Bob attended P.S. 71 and Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. Bob served in the United States Army, Corps of Engineers, and was employed by Boeing Airplane Company, Westinghouse Electric Corp., and General Motors Corp. Active in the West Jefferson community, Bob served on the West Jefferson School Board, was a West Jefferson Jaycee, was a trustee for the Hurt-Battelle Memorial Library Board, was a member of the Greater Columbus Tennis Association, and assisted the AARP Tax Foundation.

He attended THE REFINERY CHURCH, 3915 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43221, where his Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 NOON on SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 2026 with Pastor Landon Yowell, officiating. Family will welcome friends from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m. before the service. A light luncheon will follow the Celebration. Bob will be laid to rest privately by his family at Hampton Cemetery, West Jefferson, Ohio.
