Robert Jerrold “Jerry” Stauffer

Jul 24, 1947 — Oct 12, 2026

London, Ohio

Robert Jerrold “Jerry” Stauffer, born July 24, 1947, in Lima, Ohio to Roger and Beatrice Stauffer, passed away on October 12, 2026, at his home in London, Ohio.

He is survived by his daughter Jackie Dickson (her husband Scott), stepdaughter Melinda Duncan (her husband John), stepdaughter Melissa Ferguson (her husband Pat), stepdaughter Michelle Armstrong (her husband Jim), along with 10 grandchildren and 5 great‑grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and he delighted in every milestone, every visit, and every story shared around the table.

Jerry graduated from Celina High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio Northern University, where he discovered his passion for teaching and mentoring young minds. He later completed a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Dayton.

He began his teaching career at Kenton Middle School before moving to Kenton High School, where he taught mathematics, coached, and eventually served as the school’s Athletic Director until his first retirement.

Life took a joyful turn when a close friend introduced Jerry to Linda Ullman of West Jefferson, Ohio. They married soon after, settling at their home on Choctaw Lake outside London, Ohio. Retirement, however, never suited Jerry for long. When a colleague from London reached out, insisting that his experience was needed, Jerry eagerly returned to the classroom at London High School, where he taught for several more years before retiring for the second time. Even then, his passion for education endured, he continued to share his time and wisdom by tutoring students at St. Patrick Elementary School.

Outside the classroom, Jerry was never far from a fishing rod or a tennis racket. He was a lifelong fisherman, finding peace and joy on the water. His annual summer trips to the family cottage in Ontario, Canada became cherished traditions filled with laughter, quiet mornings, and memories passed down through generations.

Jerry was also a devoted member of his longtime tennis group, where camaraderie mattered just as much as the competition. Those matches; equal parts volleys, friendly ribbing, and shared stories, were a highlight of his weeks and a source of deep friendship.

And anyone who knew Jerry knew his mischievous streak. He was a practical joker through and through never mean‑spirited, always clever, and always delivered with that unmistakable laugh. Whether it was a perfectly timed one‑liner, a harmless prank, or a playful setup that left everyone laughing, Jerry’s humor brought joy to countless moments and became one of his most beloved traits.

A devoted educator, lifelong fisherman, sports enthusiast, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, and friend, Jerry lived a life defined by service, laughter, and unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a life lived with purpose. His impact on his students, friends, community, and family will continue to ripple forward for decades to come.

Jerry will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
