d. January 22, 2016

Roberta Ann Fry, age 91, of West Jefferson, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016 at Kobacker House, from health-related stroke complications. She was born March 25, 1924 to the late Marvel and Robert Fulton in Mount Sterling, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her husband, G. Frederick (Fred) Fry; sister, Lois Corson; 3 step-daughters and 1 step-son. In her younger years, Roberta played piano for church events where she met Fred, who sang at the same events. Along with Fred and the children, Roberta ran their farmers market from the farm on W. Broad Street selling sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, peas and onions. She also loved caring for her flower garden and roses. Roberta learned to text when she was about 84, sending more than 200 texts the first weekend. She was also an avid fan of watching the shopping network, QVC. She loved her kids more than anything and still referred to them as the “the boys” and “the girls”. She is survived by 8 children, Robert (Sandy) Fry, of Galloway; Suzanne Stewart, of Dublin; Larry Fry, of London; Beverly (Lou) Miller, of West Jefferson; Thomas (Karla) Fry, of South Charleston; Donald (Ann) Fry, of West Jefferson; Rebecca Kover, of West Jefferson and Lisa (Cleve Ricksecker) Fry, of Columbus; 2 step-sons, Dale (Ruth) Fry, of Pataskala and Dwayne (Leanne) Fry, of Bellefontaine; 17 grandchildren, Tucker (Tonia) Fry, Julie (Brent) Maurer, Bryan (Jenny) Stewart, Alicia (Justin) Fenn, Lori (Andy) Brown, Angela (John) Barton, Lisa (David Jones) Miller, Tracy (Rick) Zwayer, Tom (Cassie) Fry, Seth (Stacey) Fry, Beth (Joe) Spezzalli, Maria (Joey) Shepherd, Brent (Sarah) Fry, Brendan Hall, Amalia Ricksecker, Gus Ricksecker and Lilly Ricksecker; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; niece, Sharon (Archie) Armentrout, of Hilliard; 2 great-nieces; cousin, Gary Cochran, of West Jefferson; special friends, Lina June Whiteside, of South Vienna, Jean Casey, of Columbus and Marylou Dodson, of Columbus. Many thanks to her caregivers, Izzy, Jaclynn, Vera, Amber, Amalia, Luci, Esther and Deb. Your help allowed us to keep her at home after her stroke so she could watch the birds from her bed. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Dusseau for his continued care and unending support to Mom and the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital, 700 Childrens Dr., Columbus, OH 43205.
