Steve Lee Gallion, age 76, was born on July 22, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, and spent most of his life in West Jefferson, Ohio. He was a devoted husband, father, Papa, Uncle, and friend whose presence filled every room with laughter. Steve proudly served in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride. Above all else, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Nancy Gallion and a loving father to Melissa (Andy) Bucheit, Matthew (Nicole Islam) Gallion, Samantha Gallion, and Nathan Gallion. Also, Michael Gallion (Sandra), and Nick Gallion (Tina), whom he helped raise as his own and loved as sons. Nothing brought him more joy than being “Papa” to his grandchildren Cameron, Emma, Oliver, Annabelle, Ben, Artemis, and Lance, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He also loved being an older brother to Karen Rollins, Chris Cowgill, David Gallion, and Lucy Martin (Tim). Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Gallion, his aunt Frankie Gallion, and his brother Joe Gallion. Known as the life of the party, Steve had a gift for making people laugh and feel at ease. He loved collecting his Toy Story toys, cheering on his favorite teams—the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cincinnati Bengals—proudly supporting his son-in-law, Andy Bucheit, in his career as a college basketball coach (even when the games grew frustrating enough for Steve to turn off the television), and he had a deep love for animals, especially his two beloved dogs, Stella and Carmen, who brought him comfort and companionship. Most of all, Steve will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family and the joy he brought into their lives every single day.
